Mission

We proclaim Jesus Christ, promoting a community of joy, hope, love, and peace through worship, welcome, and witness.

The Washington, DC Congregation seeks to worship God by:
  • Enriching communal and individual spiritual journeys by providing transformational ministry, vibrant worship, meaningful fellowship, and theological exploration;
  • Building holistic community through inviting, welcoming, and valuing persons regardless of economic status, social class, age, dress, sex, gender, sexual orientation, faith, or ethnicity;
  • Contributing to creating a peaceable society by engaging in our community and seeking relationship based on Christ's example;
  • Exemplifying Christ’s compassionate ministry by generously sharing our time and resources to end needless suffering, challenge unjust systems, and support local and global organizations who strive for similar goals; and
  • Being fully awake, ready to respond, and open to risking something new.

Our Covenant of Welcome

"For everyone born, a place at our table.
Striving to follow in the footsteps of Jesus Christ, we promote communities of joy, hope, love and peace. We welcome you no matter your age, race, gender identity, gender expression, education, marital status, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, political viewpoint, immigration status, physical or mental ability, national origin or religious belief. You are welcome with open arms, minds, hearts and souls. We are all children of God and we celebrate the diversity of human life. We strive for full-inclusion of all people to live without fear and simply be.
Welcome Home!"

This Covenant of Welcome was approved by the Washington, DC Congregation Sunday, December 11, 2016.
